Love at Circa 1876
Another successful trip home (my third in six months) to Sydney, Australia complete! It’s always great to touch base with friends, celebrate Easter with family and fall in love with everything Sydney has to offer yet again. It did however remind me that I’m not quite ready to think about moving home just yet. The world has too much to offer and there are too many places I haven’t seen yet.
The main purpose of the trip was to be the Maid of Honour in Mel and Joel’s Wedding – a responsibility I think that’s bigger than being an actual bride! It was a pleasure to stand next to my best friend of 21 years and watch her marry the love of her life!
The wedding was set in Hunter Valleys (www.circa1876.com). A beautiful setting for a country style ceremony with a stunning reception venue first built in 1876, hence the name.
Before actually getting to the Hunter Valley there were many last minute things to do – cake boxes in New Castle, nails to paint, honeymoon clothes to purchase, shoes to break in and hair dresser appointments to be at.
And upon arriving there were ceremony rehearsals, coffee runs, wine tours, mingling in the bar over dinner and plenty of drinks!
The actual wedding day went perfectly and according to plan. The skies opened up to give us perfect photograph lighting and the bride and groom showed up on time and happy! I cried all the way up the isle and throughout the ceremony. This has been eight years in the making so everyone was emotional and over the moon for the happy couple.
These events go by so quickly. You have to constantly remind yourself to look around and take it all in (and I’m not even the bride).
So Sunday night at 18:00 it was back to reality. Sitting in the Singapore Airlines Lounge I ate the remaining wedding cake with a cup of tea reflecting on an incredible and successful weekend.
Landing in Singapore, temperatures have certainly heated up, so I expect a much higher electricity bills over the coming months while my air conditioning works in overdrive. At least the constant breeze is nice. But it’s good to be home and back to work (after a few days off next to the pool of course).
With my own impending wedding creeping up quickly I need to knuckle down and organise the outstanding tasks. Wish me luck!
